There are also hundreds of open and closed, on and off book parties during all hours of the day. Here are a few of the village themes: AI, crypto & privacy, bio hacking, voting, industry control system, wireless, dronewars, hardware hacking, soldering skills, lock picking, car hacking, aviation and sea hacking, evidence tampering, recon, social engineering, red team, blue team, blockchain, internet of things, cloud, cybersecurity ethics, application security, etc. The villages are indicative of what sort of trends the community is looking at and also what talks you’ll find. There are capture the flag (CTF) and other contests – both offensive and defensive, official talks and unrecorded talks (called skytalks that are as free speech as it gets!), hands-on workshops & labs, meetups, and large stations (called villages that focus on a thematic domain). You use an app to choose what piques your interest and go. Upon purchase of Black Hat Briefings and/or Trainings passes, each registrant will also have the option to purchase a single (1) advance ticket to DEF CON 2018. You learn, play, and meet people! There are workshops and hacking contests going on at multiple hotels on the Las Vegas Strip.
#Blackhat defcon conference 2018 simulator
At Defcon, what you quickly learn is that there’s something for everyone! Whether you’ve been in attendance from the beginning (this was the 27th year) or going for the first time, whether you’ re an attack simulator (red teamer), defender (blue teamer), outlaw (blackhat hacker), policymaker, intelligence agent, military member, researcher, interested party, or even a child of an attendee (yup, they have villages for kids!), there is a ton to do every single minute of the week. Researchers at the Black Hat security conference will demonstrate a new pacemaker-hacking technique that can add or withhold shocks at will.
